Privacy Policy
Last updated: 21 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how YamYam (“YamYam”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the YamYam mobile app (the “App”). By using the App you agree to this policy.
Who we are
YamYam is a food‑recommendation and cooking‑community app. For any privacy question or request, contact us at yamyam.app.support@gmail.com.
Information we collect
- Account. Your email address when you create an account. You may also use the App anonymously (a temporary guest account) until you sign up.
- Profile. Optional display name, username, short bio, and avatar photo you choose to add.
- Content you create. Dishes/recipes you post, photos you upload, and comments you write.
- Activity. Your swipes, likes, saved collections, follows, and food‑session history, used to power recommendations.
- Usage analytics. In‑app events (e.g., screens and actions like “opened a recipe”) to understand and improve the App. These are tied to your account id and are not sold.
- Technical & device. Basic technical data needed to run the service (e.g., app language/locale, and information your device sends when connecting to our servers).
We do not request your contacts, precise GPS location, or payment details.
How we use information
- To provide core features: recommendations, posting, the community feed, comments, follows, and collections.
- To keep the community safe (moderation, rate limiting, abuse prevention, handling reports and blocks).
- To improve the App through aggregated, product analytics.
- To communicate essential account messages (e.g., email confirmation, password reset).
AI features
Some features send text or images you provide to our AI processor to function: turning free‑form recipe text into structured fields (“Quick draft”), translating a dish on demand, and automatically screening uploaded posts for unsafe content. Only the content needed for the feature is sent. See processors below.
Service providers
We share data only with providers that process it on our behalf:
- Supabase — cloud hosting, authentication, database, and image storage.
- OpenAI — recipe parsing, on‑demand translation, and content moderation. Content sent for these features is processed to return a result and is not used by us for advertising.
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the service.
Your photos & permissions
The App asks for access to your photo library (to attach dish photos) and, if you use voice dictation, your microphone and speech recognition. You can decline these; the related features simply won’t be available.
Data retention
We keep your information while your account is active. Aggregated analytics may be retained in a de‑identified form.
Your rights & choices
- Delete your account. You can permanently delete your account and associated content from inside the App (Profile → Delete account). This removes your profile, posts, photos, comments, and activity; analytics records are de‑identified.
- Access & correction. You can edit your profile in the App, or contact us to request access to or correction of your data.
- Block & report. You can block other users and report content at any time.
Children
YamYam is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We use industry‑standard measures (including access controls and encryption in transit) to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to safeguard your information.
International users
Your information may be processed on servers located outside your country. By using the App you consent to such processing.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, an in‑app notice.
